=== Privacy Policy ===

Effective August 11, 2026 · Last updated September 7, 2026

Duck Chase is a hunting log. You record your hunts, and that record belongs to you. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, where it lives, and what we will and won't do with it. It's written in plain English on purpose.

The short version. We collect the hunt data you enter and the email you sign up with. We store it on Supabase in the United States. We do not sell your personal information, and we never share your spots — no coordinates, no pins, no location labels. We may publish county-level harvest trends that no individual can be picked out of, and you can opt out of even that. You can export or delete everything at any time.

Who we are

Duck Chase is operated as an independent app. You can reach us at help@duckchase.app with any question about this policy or your data.

What we collect

- Account information

- Email address and display name, used to create your account and sign you in

- Subscription status, if you purchase Duck Chase Premium

- Photos. If you attach a photo to a hunt, we store a compressed copy on your device and on our servers so it is available if you reinstall the app or sign in on another phone. Photos are private to your account — no other user can see them. We do not scan, analyse, or use your photos for any purpose other than showing them back to you. Location data embedded by your camera is stripped before the photo leaves your phone. Deleting a photo removes it from our servers, and deleting your account removes all of them

Hunt data you enter

- Hunt dates, times, and text location labels

- Weather conditions you record — temperature, wind, sky, barometric pressure, precipitation

- Harvest details — species, sex, counts, band records, harvest times

- Blind and decoy setup — party size, decoy count, spread pattern, motion decoy use

- Shells fired, per hunt and per harvest, if you choose to record it

- Dog profiles — call name, registered name, breed, date of birth, sex, and notes you write

- Free-text notes on hunts and harvests

License and stamp records (optional)

- If you choose to store your licenses and stamps in the app, we hold what you enter — the type of license or stamp, its number, the issuing state, and its expiry date. You enter these so the app can warn you before something lapses.

- We know a license number is a government-issued identifier. We do not share it with anyone, we never include it in any aggregate or de-identified dataset, and it is never sold or licensed to a partner. It is stored solely so the app can show it back to you. Leave the number field blank if you only want expiry reminders — the reminder works without it.

Precise location (Premium, optional)

If you subscribe to Premium and choose to pin a spot, we store the GPS coordinates of that pin. This is optional and off unless you use it. We treat hunting locations as sensitive information and handle them accordingly — see Your hunting locations below.

Photos (Premium, optional)

Photos you attach to a hunt are stored in our Supabase storage bucket and are visible only to you.

Website Analytics

- Our website, duckchase.app, uses Google Analytics to count visitors and see which pages people read. This is separate from the app, and it collects nothing about your hunts.

- Google Analytics sets cookies, assigns your browser a random visitor ID, and receives your city-level location (derived from your IP address, which Google truncates), your device and browser type, the pages you visit, and how you arrived — for example whether you followed a link or scanned a code at an event. We use this to know whether people are finding the app, and roughly where from. The visitor ID is random and is not connected to your Duck Chase account.

- We have turned Google's advertising features off, so this data is not used to build an advertising profile or to follow you to other sites. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking cookies — the site works either way.

- The app itself contains no analytics of any kind.

What we do not collect

- We do not track you across other apps or websites

- We do not use third-party advertising networks or advertising identifiers

- We do not collect your contacts, browsing history, or background location

- We do not build advertising profiles about you

How we use your information

- To run the app — storing your hunts, syncing them across your devices, and showing you your own history and analytics

- To manage your account — authentication and subscription status

- To support you — responding when you email us for help

- To improve Duck Chase — acting on the feedback hunters send us so we know what to build next

Your hunting locations

- We understand what spot data means to a hunter. We will never sell, license, publish, or share your GPS coordinates, your saved spot pins, or the location labels you write — not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to other users, not to anyone. Your specific spots stay yours. There is no future business model that changes this.

- We may report coarse regional patterns — never more precise than county level, and only where enough hunters contribute that no individual can be picked out of the number. The specific limits we hold ourselves to are in Aggregate data below.

- If we are ever compelled to disclose data by valid legal process, we will notify you unless legally prohibited from doing so.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers required to operate the app, and only what they need:

- Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider. Your data is stored on their infrastructure in the United States.

- Apple and Google — process subscription payments. They handle your payment details directly; we never see your card information.

- Qonversion — manages subscription status. Receives an anonymous user identifier and your subscription state, not your hunt data.

These providers are contractually limited to processing data on our behalf. They may not use it for their own purposes.

- Google Analytics — measures traffic on our website only. It has no access to your account, your hunts, or anything you enter in the app.

Selling and aggregate data

We do not sell your personal information. We do not sell, rent, or trade information that identifies you, and we have never done so.

We may publish or license aggregated, de-identified statistics — for example, harvest trends by species, month, and region — to conservation organizations, wildlife agencies, researchers, and commercial partners in the outdoor industry.

These are the limits we hold ourselves to when we do, and we consider them binding:

- Never more precise than county. No coordinates, no spot pins, no location labels, no sub-county geography of any kind.

- Minimum group size. We publish a figure for a given area and period only when at least 30 separate hunters contributed to it. Below that threshold the data is withheld, not rounded or estimated.

- Never individual-level. No record, row, or field traceable to one person, one account, or one hunt.

- No re-identification. Anyone who receives this data is contractually prohibited from attempting to re-identify individuals or from combining it with other datasets to do so.

- No contact information, ever. Email addresses, names, and phone numbers are never included in, derived from, or sold alongside any dataset.

Data meeting these conditions describes patterns across many hunters and cannot reasonably be tied back to you or used to locate where you hunt.

You can opt out. Email help@duckchase.app and we will exclude your hunts from all aggregate datasets, at no cost and with no effect on your access to the app.

If we ever wanted to go beyond what's described here, we would update this policy and ask for your explicit opt-in consent first. Continuing to use the app would not count as agreement.

Your rights and choices

- Access and export — request a copy of all your data at any time

- Correction — edit or delete any hunt, harvest, or dog profile directly in the app

- Deletion — delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, under Account → Delete My Account. This is immediate and permanent

- Opt out of aggregate data — email us and we'll exclude your account from the county-level datasets described above.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the GDPR, including the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and to be free from discrimination for exercising those rights. Email help@duckchase.app to exercise any of them. We respond within 30 days.

Data retention

We keep your hunt data for as long as your account is active, because the point of a hunting log is to keep years of history. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your data from our production systems within 30 days. Encrypted backups may retain it for up to 90 days before rotating out.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Access is enforced at the database level through row-level security policies, meaning your records are technically inaccessible to other users of the app. Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore on your device.

No system is perfectly secure, and we won't claim otherwise. If a breach ever affects your data, we will notify you promptly.

Offline storage on your device

Duck Chase works without cell service. Hunts you log offline are stored on your device and sync when you reconnect. Data held on your device is protected by your device's own security — passcode, Face ID, or fingerprint.

Children

Duck Chase is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and notify you in the app before the changes take effect. For any change that expands how we use your data, we'll ask for your consent rather than assume it.
